PINK participated in the recent 6th Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) Conference as one of four Horizon Europe projects invited to present their work. While the other projects focused on applying SSbD principles to specific material development case studies, PINK highlighted its complementary role by developing digital concepts and computational support tools for the early stages of material innovation.
During the conference, Thomas Exner presented how PINK is designing concepts that help users identify and apply suitable computational approaches to generate relevant data as early as possible in the material development process. He also demonstrated how these data can support informed decision-making throughout the innovation pathway.
The second day focused on networking and collaboration between major European initiatives – including PARC, IRISS, NSC and MaterialsCommons4EU – and 31 Horizon Europe projects. Each initiative had the opportunity to present its activities and identify opportunities for future cooperation. PINK used this platform to showcase its efforts in facilitating knowledge exchange across projects and invited participants to contribute to the development of a semantic framework for SSbD, an activity currently led by PINK with contributions from the INSIGHT and CHIASMA projects.
